Our coaching staff consists of Valerie Palencar, Heidi Renfer, Rick McKinnon, Bill Duffy, and Karel Zubris. We also have on staff Donna Dudish who teaches at the Learn to Skate and Basic skills level, adult and children.
Valerie has been skating and coaching for over 25 yrs. She teaches beginner through advanced skaters Free Style, Moves-in the-Field, Figures, Performance Technique, and Choreography. She is the creator of ICERSIZE FITNESSTM, a new on-ice fitness program. She has coached at Chelsea Pier's Sky Rink, Central Park's Wollman Rink, The Ice Studio, the Ice Chalet's Skating School, all in New York City and was skating director of the Pocono Resort, Mount Airy Lodge. She is currently the Figure Skating Director of THE ICE RINK at COAL STREET PARK and vice-president of DCFSC.
Valerie is a working member of SAG, Actors Equity Association and the PROFESSIONAL SKATERS ASSOCIATION. She has appeared as an actress as well as a skater in many national and international ad campaigns, including Seagram's Wine Coolers for the 1988 Olympics. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a Minor in Art from Hunter College, N.Y. and a M.S. in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Baruch College, N.Y. She is a Licensed and Nationally Certified Counselor.

Heidi has spent her entire career motivating, mentoring and enhancing the creativity and artistic expression of figure skaters, tots through adults. She prides herself in customizing choreography to suit the individual skater's ability, personality, and in developing her students' full artistic potential. Her students have competed at the local, regional, state, and national level They have been rewarded with numerous gold, silver and bronze medals, including THE KEYSTONE STATE GAMES, ARTISTIC CHALLENGE, STATE GAMES of AMERICA, and ISI WORLDS.
Heidi provides private, semi-private, group, competitive and recreational skating instruction. She has choreographed numerous ice shows and arena exhibitions. Rick has been coaching all levels of figure skaters for over 35 years, including that of a USFSA National Competitor. He spent 10 years as a Professional Figure Skater with the ICE FOLLIES, and owned and operated the ICE PALACE in Allentown, PA. for 30 years.
Rick is a Senior Rated Coach with the Professional Skaters Association and is also a registered coach with USFSA.
He also spent 4 years on the Board of Directors of the Ice Skating Institute of America.
Rick is a Charter Board Member of the Diamond City Figure Skating club, and is Chairman of the Grievance Committee.
